Pancreatic Cancer Awareness

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. A time where people come together to help raise awareness of the UK’s fifth biggest cancer killer!

Do your bit

We are pleased to announce that this November we are going to Turn it PurpleTM  across our website and social media. We will donate 10% of all our online sales over the month to the

charity who focus on saving lives through early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. That means you can do your bit just by stocking up on your favourite cold-pressed juices or Birchers – it’s that easy!

Ali Stunt

Who is Pancreatic Cancer Action?

Pancreatic Cancer Action was founded by Ali Stunt, who is now a 12-year survivor, and is in the 1% of people diagnosed. This was because she was diagnosed early and in time for life-saving surgery. Ali was shocked by the awful survival rates and lack of information about the disease and founded the charity to help others going through a diagnosis. Ali says:

When I first set up the charity I never imagined that we would be teaming up with a company like B.fresh! We are so incredibly grateful for their support and I am confident that with their help we can make a huge impact this Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.”

Pancreatic Cancer Action raises awareness amongst the public, educates healthcare professionals, provides free patient information and funds research into early diagnosis projects.

Twenty four hours in a day…

One person dies each hour from pancreatic cancer. That’s 24 people a day. Shocking isn’t it?

By raising public awareness and knowledge of pancreatic cancer and it’s symptoms; the charity aims to help more people recognise the symptoms earlier.

Our donation will help the charity:

  • Fund research into early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer
  • Campaigning and lobby the government and key stakeholders for change
  • Provide free patient information for those diagnosed and living with pancreatic cancer

What about nutrition?

In the UK, 1 in 8 pancreatic cancer cases is linked with obesity and being overweight.

Obesity is a modifiable risk factor which means you can adjust your own risk through behaviours and lifestyle choices. This is why living a healthy lifestyle is so important and can reduce your risk. Keeping a healthy weight can be challenging, however, there is a lot of support and advice is available on the NHS website.

Maintaining a healthy weight is protective against pancreatic cancer, as well as a host of other diseases and conditions. There are lots of things we can all do to try and stay in shape. Keeping active is very important. This doesn’t have to mean hours on the treadmill each day. Just make sure you’re getting activity into your daily routine.

We all know that eating a balanced diet is important to our health. Most people in the UK eat and drink too many calories. We consume too much saturated fat, sugar and salt, and not enough fruit, vegetables, oily fish or fibre.

At B.fresh our mission is to get more fruit and veg into more people, easily. Each of our juices contains one of your five a day and are packed with vitamins and nutrients. Don’t take our word for it, you can visit our online shop here and see for yourself.
