B.fresh supports local charity – Little Rascals Foundation

Sep 20th, 2019

On Wednesday 18 September we packed up the green Land Rover with bottles of Watered Up and made our way over to Wrekin Golf Club to support a Charity Golf day in aid of local charity, Little Rascals Foundation.

Little Rascals Foundation, helping children and young people

Little Rascals Foundation was set up by Shrewsbury Town Football player, Dave Edwards and his lifelong friend Ben Wootton. The foundation supports children and young people with disabilities and their families in Shropshire and further afield.

The centre offers sessions exclusive to those with disabilities, it’s a safe space for them to have fun and for their parents to relax over a cup of tea from the café. The foundation offers coffee mornings where children and young people can come and get involved in a range of activities. These range from sensory play to crafts and baking. It also offers support for their parents, with advice and signposting or sometimes just a place where they can talk freely about their worries and struggles.

The foundation offers a sensory outreach programme where children and young people who cannot attend the play centre for any reason, such as no transport or illness can receive the sensory benefits from the comfort of their own home. The staff offer individual mentoring, helping the children and young people overcome barriers, both mental and physical. There is also the opportunity for young people to enrol on work experience at the centre, experiencing working as part of a team and customer service skills.

After school and holiday clubs

The foundation offer after school clubs in Shrewsbury for 6-16 year olds, as well as a holiday club which operates one day a week over the school holidays. This allows for the children to spend time with their friends and play freely in a safe place whilst giving their parents much needed respite.

Some of the children came along to the morning of the golf day; they loved being involved in all the excitement. There were 64 Golfers who took part in a penalty shootout and an 18 hole golf competition. They had a great day with their friends whilst support the amazing work of the Foundation. We supplied Watered Up to the Golfers throughout the day to keep them hydrated!

It was a fabulous day and £9,315 was raised for the charity which is a great achievement. Thank you to everyone involved.
